Reflection for Tuesday, 31 March 2020
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ Jesus,
The bronze serpent hung between heaven and earth on a pole, prefiguring Christ Jesus on His Cross. Anyone who looked up at it would be healed. When we are dragged down by sin we need to look up to God to be healed. Even the effects of sin tend to drag us down, isolate us, turn us inward. How refreshing, then, to be drawn upward, out of ourselves, and into God’s healing light!
Take a moment today to look up at Jesus on the Cross. Find a good crucifix, or just imagine yourself on Calvary hill, looking up at Jesus. See Him look down at you in love. See the lengths to which He is willing to go to bring you up to Himself in heaven! God Himself endured death so that we might not fear death. In our troubles we look up to Him Who Is our salvation and our hope.
Peace in Christ,
Father Matthew Kuhn
