Glorious Light of the Resurrection
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ Jesus,
We live in the glorious light of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ! No other event in the history of the universe can give us such joy as this. Jesus’ victory over death makes possible our entry into eternal life. Death no longer wins. We live now to share this joy with the world. By our words and actions, we seek to do as Saint Peter proclaimed in the Acts of the Apostles: “to preach to the people and testify that [Jesus] is the one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear witness, that everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins through his name.” (Acts 10:42-43)
The joy of the Resurrection should be our constant reassurance. Even in the darkest moments of our lives, when the weights of our personal crosses press us down, we can look up to Jesus and know of our salvation. His Cross led to the glory of His Resurrection; our sharing in His sufferings also leads us to our redemption and glorification in Him. We rejoice in the forgiveness of our sins won by the shedding of His Blood. We can call upon the powerful Name of Jesus and invoke His Grace upon ourselves, our struggles, and even our persecutors. We are the captives who have been liberated by His Victory, and we now march in His triumphal procession, singing the praises of our Savior and our King. Alleluia! He is risen! “Death is swallowed up in victory!” (1 Cor 15:54)
May the joy of the Resurrection of Jesus overwhelm our hearts and flow freely from our lips, that we may be witnesses to Him Who sets us free!
Peace in Christ,
Father Matthew Kuhn
