Running for the Light
Welcome and thank you for taking the time to look at our Marathon Fundraising Page. We need your help to change our community! There are probably a few details that you are wondering about, so let's get started.
Who: Michael Mettler, Director of Music and Liturgy at St. Henry's. He lives in New York Mills with his wife and soon to be 4 children. He has run one Marathon before.
What: He is looking for people to pledge a certain amount for each mile that he trains. (Other donations are also accepted)
When: He started keeping track of his miles on February 1st. The Fargo Marathon is Saturday May 18th at 7am.
Where: Michael can be found in the parish office most weekdays. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings he may be found running around New York Mills. The Marathon itself is in Fargo.
Why: St. Henry's Area School needs a new facility. Remodeling is not an option and those poor students deserve proper heating and air conditioning.
How: Michael will be keeping track of his miles using the Charity Miles App on his phone. It uses the GPS on his phone to keep track of where he is running. Last time he trained for a marathon, he averaged about 30 miles per week. He may or may not do more. It will depend on weather and his health.
For Example: If someone donated .25 cents per mile and he averaged 30 miles per week, the donation would be $112.50
